You can wait for that party as Microsoft now krentjes nice to pick out the cake. The fair value drops, MS has cash available, so a sale is so made. Hope it does not actually go through, think competition is good as it goes. They keep each other sharp.

Maybe they can even buy Iceland.

Indeed not good for competition, the U.S. government would still object to it?

Maybe not for concurentie but hopefully for progress.

It is not the first attempt by MS to buy RIM.

RIM had a very unique product .. but not what she sees in MS, U.S. business market, beautiful product line, or just the low price of RIM?

Microsoft has the philosophy that they are software maker, no hardware maker (Steve Balmer has dst this year against 2,500 MVPs and a lot of press reported). I also think that they would throw their windows in the handheld vendors because Microsoft would suddenly be a competitor. HTC and Sony Ericsson will very soon be tempted to just switching to Android in order to remain competitive.

Microsoft also win anything with this. Market share plummets, architecture is fundamentally different and the BES software is as ugly as sin. You buy it just to gain market share in a market where you yourself are not actually want to be.

RIM is currently both hardware and software competitor to MS (the Blackberry OS has its own very successful). And how can you better get rid of your competitor by buying him.
Purpose of a takeover could mean the current line of successful RIM continue.
Another goal could be: RIM to buy the then (eventually partially) eliminating leaving space in the market for MS.

Nice article, but I miss a "value judgments" on the 6 individual pros and con's 6.

Eg: How important is Steve Ballmer the importance of winning compared to just find it to be the largest (at all).

Or: What is the point "MS is not a hardware manufacturer (although: Xbox, Zune ....) important than the budget can take over a successful business (and I call it conscious as any competitor).


One of the con's Blackberry is incompatible with WM devices, making it an enormous amount of resources would take anything compatible to you differently (as a pro) see:
Blackberry has strengths, WM has strengths. If MS buying RIM would thus they would get a chunk of knowledge in which only two platforms can be beneficial, assuming that both systems evan just continue.

If they have a design like how not to, then they must look to RIM. But they do not buy, since all the material already at hand.

In my opinion, and a lot of industry experts, the infrastructure and the design of RIM just far out. It was fun in an era where SMS has not had widespread roll, but now we know that it is so full of fundamental design errors that you can not maintain. The trust model is just fundamentally wrong (the clients are trusted in the company), the high concentrations to the NOC's are simply unacceptable from a reliability and confidentiality and the BES structure is in practice a large flat back into the corporate infrastructure. In practice, enter the BlackBerry Jericho principles feet, and it leans very heavily on the security of clients, without worrying about the rest.

I've told this story all that more conferences on security, and consequence is that many parties BlackBerry in any case isolate, and just regular things on the street.

It is nice that MS is never something that has attracted supporters and haters.
The fact is that RIM, despite the fact that it sucks apparently very successful. Why would not they?
